Ingredients:
Chicken: 200 gm
Cooking oil: 3 tsp.
Garam masala: 1 tsp.
Coriander seeds: 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder: 1 tsp.
Yoghurt: 4 tsp.
Onion (sliced): 1
Curry leaves: a few
Bay leaf: 1
Cinnamon stick: 1 inch
Cloves: 3
Black peppercorns: 1 tsp.
Cumin seeds: 1 tsp.
Garlic (chopped): 3 cloves
Tomato puree of 2 tomatoes
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp.
Salt to taste
- Make a paste of yoghurt, garam masala, coriander seeds and turmeric powder. Marinate the chicken in this mix for about 2-3 hours.
- Heat oil in a pan and add curry leaves. Add the onions and fry until they start getting brown.
- Grind together bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, peppercorns and cumin seeds. Keep aside.
- Add garlic and mix. Fry for about 2 minutes.
- Add the tomato puree, salt, red chilli powder and the ground spice mix. Mix well and let cook for about 2 minutes.
- Add the marinated chicken and mix well. Let cook for a minute.
- Add 1/2 cup water and Cover. Let cook for 15 minutes. Remove cover, simmer for another 5 minutes and serve hot.
