Garlic Raita

Fresh minced garlic with the goodness of yogurt !!
Quick, easy and tasty.. A wonderful, aromatic side dish made in less than 5 minutes. Using just the basic ingredients, this wonderful Garlic Raita can be made ever so easily and can be served with any main course. Best for a new flavor when guests are over, or preparing for a party even..


Beaten yogurt: 2 cups
Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp.
Curry leaves: a few
Crushed garlic cloves: 6
Asafoetida: a pinch
Whole red chilli: 1
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder: 1/2 tsp.
Cooking oil: 1 tsp.

  1. Heat oil on medium heat and add the mustard seeds. Let them splutter and add the curry leaves and asafoetida. Fry for about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the whole red chilli and the garlic. Fry for about 2 minutes until the raw smell of garlic is gone.
  3. Add the red chilli powder and salt. Turn off the heat.
  4. Pour this mix over the yogurt. Serve.
